Ubisoft is re-launching survival horror action game ZombiU digitally for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One & PC platforms on August 18. Now renamed as Zombi, it’s available as a digital download for both Microsoft & Sony platforms. Ubisoft enhances ZombiU with small updates for better gameplay.
Zombi is a first person survival horror game that lets you take the role of various people in London who attempts to survive a zombie uprising. Zombi is introducing some great concepts like hard to kill zombies, scarce guns & ammo. It requires stealth & survives type gameplay instead of Rambo style gameplay. Again, when you die, you will find yourself in the body of another survivor. Your old body gets resurrected as a zombie, still carrying all your backpack & goods. So you have to kill your old body to get your stuff back.
“We knew from the beginning that maintaining the tension and feel of the original was one of the main challenges, as the way ZombiU was presented on Wii U cannot be reproduced.” said Zombi producer Helene Henry.
“It disappears when not required, giving the game a very lonely feeling. If you have surround sound, the awesome sound mix from the original still stands and greatly helps immersion. As much as possible, we’ve tried to keep those key elements,” Henry continued.
Ubisoft confirmed that ZombiU’s minimap will be displayed on the screen in Zombi. Zombi has also upgraded its field of vision & modified movement controls. Unfortunately, ZombiU Wii U version’s multiplayer mode will not be available in Zombi. It only features solo campaign.
Ubisoft further explained that these new modifications will not affect ZombiU’s core themes of vulnerability & claustrophobia, as the gameplay still takes place in real time with no pausing, and players can still be attacked while accessing inventory items or upgrading weapons. The game mostly remains the same as original.
