Hair care is extremely necessary to maintain your hair. Everybody wants to have beautiful & healthy hair but for many reasons, hair got damaged. Our hair needs same care & attention like our skin. Sometimes unintentionally, people made many mistakes, which are responsible for ruining the hair. Doing hair spa on a regular basis is a great way for hair care. After that, few changes in your usual hair care routine can give you a fantastic result. You just need to adopt some healthy habits and avoid some bad mistakes for a proper hair care. Here is something to do’s and don’ts to get softer, shinier, healthy, nourish, manageable and beautiful hair in no time. Good luck.
Hair care at home
What to do:
Wash your hair – The first step of hair care is keeping your hair clean. Dirty hair & scalp cause many problems i.e. dandruff, itching scalp, dryness, hair fall, hair breakage, etc., and it also causes acne. Remember, always to be gentle while washing your hair. Do not be rough; & clean every part of your scalp and every inch of your hair properly. Every time use conditioner after shampooing to get soft, nourish and manageable hair. However, always apply conditioner on your hair, not on your scalp because it can weaken the root and cause hair loss.
Clean hairbrushes – What is the meaning of all the efforts you put in cleaning your hair when your brush is not clean itself. When you use a dirty hairbrush, it transfers all the dirt, oil, etc. to your clean hair & scalp. Try not to use anyone else combs & hairbrushes for better hair care. Always wash your combs & hairbrushes in soapy water at least once in a week for better hygiene.
Hair brushing – Yes brushing your hair is also need to do for hair care because it is helpful to remove tangle & makes hair manageable. Always comb your hair from bottom to top to prevent hair loss. Remember, brush your hair not the root, it may cause damage. Brush your hair in the morning is the must but do not forget to brush your hair before going to bed. If you have very long hair, then it is better to make a loose braid before going to bed to prevent tangle during your sleep. However, over brushing is not a good thing to do.
Oiling is the key – One of the most important things to do for hair care is oiling. Oiling makes hair soft, silky, smooth, nourish, strong, manageable, healthy, reduce stress, improve blood circulation, helpful to prevent dry hair, itchy scalp, hair fall, hair breakage, etc. There is no reason left behind not to do oiling your hair. Apply Oil on your hair at least 2-3 times in a week. You can use coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, castor oil, etc. Comb your hair after oiling to spread the oil evenly everywhere.
Use right products – Using the right product is a must thing to do for hair care. Always buying products according to your hair type either you have dry hair, oily hair, dandruff problems, etc. It’s better to use herbal or organic products instead of using chemical products. Especially try to avoid using those products whose contains silicones, sulfates & parabens.
Trim hair regularly – Many women don’t like to cut their long hair, but it’s necessary to trim hair in every 3 – 4 months of the interval for better hair care. Sometimes long hair got damaged on lower section i.e. breakage, split ends or dead ends, etc. It’s better to cut that damaged hair before it spread. When you cut the damaged hair, then your hair will look more beautiful & your hair will grow in a healthy way.
Cover hair before swimming – Another important thing to do is always cover your hair before entering into the swimming pools. Swimming pools water contains high quantity of salt & chlorine, which are responsible for damaging your hair i.e. dry hair, split ends, hair breakage, etc. You can use a leave-in conditioner before entering the swimming pool to prevent damage, but it’s better to cover your hair.
Healthy diet – If you want to do a proper hair care then you have to keep your diet healthy. Healthy eating means a healthy body, healthy skin, and healthy hair too, in sort healthy you. Try to include protein, iron, omega-3, fatty acids, vitamin C, etc. to your regular diet to get healthy, strong, damage-free and beautiful hair. Do not forget to stay hydrated during all day, drink at least 10 – 12 glass of water every day.
What not to do:
Don’t over wash – You have to keep your hair clean as I wrote above but don’t over wash your hair because it can be harmful to your hair. Using shampoo, conditioner, etc. on a daily basis can ruin the natural oil & structure of hair, and it may cause dry hair, itchy & flaky scalp, etc. That’s why shampooing your hair once or twice in a week is enough.
Don’t tie hair tightly – Tie the hair too tightly is against the hair care rule. If you always tie your hair, tightly like a ponytail or a tight bun, in that case, it stretched the hair and weak the root then it’s obvious you will start losing hair. That’s why always try to keep your hair loose or make a loose side braid hairstyles to prevent hair fall.
Don’t use hot water on hair – Using hot water on hair is a big no-no for hair care because hot water can make hair & scalp dry then it may cause dry, flaky scalp and irritation, etc. In another side, the cold water is very gentle with hair and it adds more shine to your hair. That’s why always use cold water while washing your hair.
Don’t expose hair to the sun – You have to protect your hair from sun rays to do hair care. Because the sun rays not only causing skin tan but also bad for hair, it makes hair dry, rough, damage, breakage, fading the color, etc. Use a wide hat or a scarf to cover your hair every time you step outside to protect your hair from damaging ultraviolet rays of the sun.
Don’t use hot tools – It is an obvious thing not to use hot tools like a blow dryer, hair straightener, hair curler, etc. for hair care. Heating your hair is one of the worst things you do to your hair. Because hot tools make your hair burn, dry, rough, breakage, unhealthy, reduces hair growth, etc. That’s why it is better to use heatless method for hairstyle instead of using hot tools. Still if you have to use hot tools then always apply heat protection products before using hot tools.
Don’t over-styling your hair – Over styling is awful for hair, so you have to stop over styling for hair care. Because for styling your hair you need to do back teasing, using hot tools, apply hair sprays, etc. & it all responsible for ruining your hair badly. It’s all causes many hair problems i.e. hair fall, dry hair, frizzy hair, split ends, hair breakage, etc. in short, if you want to maintain your hair healthily then you have to keep your hair rest from over styling.
Don’t use hair extensions – Hair extensions enhance the beauty of the hair especially for those women who have thin & short hair. However, it is not a right thing to do for hair care. When you use hair extension it’s always pulling your scalp down because of its weight then it weakens the root after that you will start losing hair. If you want to use hair extension in an exceptional occasion, then fine but try to remove it as soon as possible after your occasion finish. Never go to sleep without removing your hair extension it’s going to damage your scalp badly, and it will tangle with your natural hair then you will need to do a lot of struggle to detangle your hair, and even you will lose much hair in this detangling process.
Don’t mishandle your wet hair – Don’t you dare to mistreat your hair especially when it’s wet. Wet hair is always weak that is why you must handle it carefully for better hair care. Never, beating hair with a towel, rub or squeeze the hair, brushing the wet hair because it all causes hair fall, split ends, hair breakage, etc. So always, use a soft & clean towel to soak water after washing hair and let it naturally dry instead of using a blow dryer. Remember one more thing never use hot tools like hair straightener or hair curler on your wet hair always use these when your hair is completely dry.
